Accidents at Work

UK Employment Law

You go to work every day and feel familiar with your surroundings and colleagues. But one day the unthinkable happens and you suffer an accident that leaves you injured, perhaps seriously.

According to employment legislation, your employer is Legally Obliged to Provide a Safe and Regulated Workplace. If these obligations are not fulfilled and you suffer an accident or harm as a consequence, you are entitled to compensation for a claim of personal injury.

In addition to the obligations relating to a safe place of work, it is compulsory for employers to take out Insurance for such personal accident or injury claims made against them.

Your employer is also legally responsible for maintaining all machinery in good working order and ensuring that everything in the job and workplace remains In Line With Official Safety Standards.

It is Not Always Necessary to Prove Negligence - in many cases the failure to do something may well be sufficient.

Legal Evidence

The most important thing when making a claim following an accident at work is to present as much evidence as possible of the accident and the consequences.

You must report the accident to your employer, and make a record of the details in the Accident Book. Any Witness Accounts and Photographs of the injury or equipment involved will also be very useful for you legal case.

Compensation Payments

In addition to compensation for the injury itself, you may also be entitled to payment of costs incurred from travelling expenses and medical fees, as well as loss of earnings brought on by the accident.

If you are Unable to Continue in your Job, you may receive a substantial payout. It is also possible to be awarded compensation for an occurrence that was also partly your fault, or the fault of a work colleague, as the employer is deemed responsible for all employees.

Consult our specialist compensation solicitors to find out if you are entitled to claim compensation for your misfortune. It might make all the difference to an adverse situation.
